Semi-Finals of the National “WorldSkills 2015” Championship of Russia for the Siberian Federal District Started at the Novosibirsk Expo Centre International Exhibition Complex

Within 4 days of the competition held at the Exhibition Complex we will see 132 participants from various regions of the Siberian Federal District who will struggle to get the title of the best professional in 16 occupational competences.

The Novosibirsk Region had taken up the torch of WorldSkills Russia movement, 11 regions sent their leaders to take part in the semi-finals of this championship.

The semi-finals included 132 students from occupational training institutions aged 18 – 23.

The Championship official opening ceremony featured the President of WorldSkills Russia Union, Chief of the Technical Committee at the General Assembly of WorldSkills Russia Pavel Chernykh, who expressed confidence that Russia would win its right to conduct the world finals of WorldSkills Competition to be held in the Kazan in 2019.    

Today a lot of attention is paid to improving professional skills, raising the status of blue-collar jobs. I hope that this championship will allow all the participants to move on contributing to further development of their careers and have a great influence on the successful realization of their potential in life. The Novosibirsk Region is making a significant contribution in developing this movement in Russia, organizing the Semi-Finals of the National Championship of Russia for the Siberian Federal District on such a high level.  

The Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Vladimir Gorodetsky also took part in the opening ceremony. He spoke about the importance of the competition being held and emphasized that people of blue-collar occupations are indeed able to create new economy, and discover new prospects for the development of the Novosibirsk Region and Russia in general. 

It must be noted that the plenary session held as part of the championship resulted in signing an association agreement between the WorldSkills Russia Union and the Regional WorldSkills Russia Coordination Centre for the Novosibirsk region to confirm further cooperation between the Union and the Novosibirsk Region. 

The Championship will continue on April 3 and 4 — from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.,

April 5 — from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
