Novosibirsk Hosted the ‘Capital of Siberia Cup’ Drift Competition

Summer season at the Novosibirsk Expo Centre International Exhibition Complex ended in an exciting race. On August 30 the outdoor area of the complex hosted the ‘Capital of Siberia Cup’ drift competition. About 30 pilots were struggling for the Best Pilot title. Drifters from Tomsk, Barnaul, and Novosibirsk demonstrated their sports skills.

According to the results of the race, Maksim Rakin, Novosibirsk (Nissan Silvia S15), was named the winner of the competition. Second place was taken by Yevgeny Spirin, Novosibirsk(Toyota Chaser). Maksim Yakubitsky, Novosibirsk (Nissan Silvia S13), was named the third in the competition.

As the event organizers from the Novosibirsk Automobile Federation noted, yet another competition was conducted successfully, just according to the plan. However, this time we saw significant organizational changes. ‘In preparing this competition we placed seats for the viewers and large screens in the paddock (a restricted area with no access for the audience, where the race control zone, parking lots for the cars of the racers’ teams, cubicles, the media centre, and other maintenance areas are located) and the spectators’ zone broadcasting the race live and also showing instant replays. We want the visitors of our event to not only be interested but also to feel comfortable. We hope that these new solutions have helped provide the desired comfort to the audience’, told us Anna Gorokhova, Sports Commissioner of the Competition. The next drift competition is scheduled for September 27, 2014.
