"Geo–Sibir" – A New Level

"Interexpo Geo-Siberia" is always an important event for the professional community and for guests, who are specialized university students, academics, design institutes and organizations from around the world, who specialise in the development and implementation of GIS technology. This year, thanks to the new exhibition complex Novosibirsk Expo Centre the exhibition "Geo - Siberia" has significantly expanded its circle of participants. Strong international support for industry-specific organizations and the participation of leading international experts from Germany, USA, Austria, Switzerland, Mongolia, France, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Turkey, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and other countries have brought it to a new international level, adding to the name — "InterExpo".

The congress and exhibition is devoted to geodesy, geology, geophysics, mapping, water resources, land management, real estate cadastre, forest inventory, GIS, Geo-ecology, surveying, metrology, Geomonitoring, specialized instrumentation, microtechnology, thermal physics, mining and the extraction of minerals.

Opening the exhibition, the Presidential Envoy to the Siberian Federal District, Viktor Tolokonsky,  noted its relevance to the professional community:

The exhibition "SibGeo" always has interesting conferences, seminars, round tables and new ideas. On this 8th exhibition of the latest technologies we will see serious progress in different areas such as design, construction, and other related economic activities.

According to the First Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk Region, Leonid Gornina, there are more than two thousand guests participating in this exhibition, more than two hundred leading scientists from Russia and other states and more than 100 specialized institutions. Also over 700 presentations and papers will be presented at the international congress.

All this together proves the high level of international exhibitions” said Mr. Gornin. - I am sure that today's market will be the basis for successful social and economic developments in Siberia.

Also participating in the conference and exhibition is a large delegation from Germany, which indicates, according to the Consul General of Germany in Novosibirsk Naythart Hofer Vissing, the improving development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of geodesy. Mr. Hofer Vissing, told that more than 16 years ago he worked himself as an assistant geodesist in the Rhine Valley, and that since then he has seen significant changes in the field:

“I am sure that such a meeting of representatives of government, science and business is very useful for the development of Siberia and the Far East. And of course it’s a good thing that these activities are taking place in the brave new Expo Center” said the consul.

On the first day of the conference the participants to "Interexpo Geo - Siberia" evaluated the situation and problems of GIS software, the creation of a training system and certification of specialists in geodesy, cartography, land management and cadaster. Also discussed 3D-design for industrial and civil use, GLONASS data application, terrestrial laser scanning capabilities and other topics.

The Conference and Exhibition "Interexpo Geo - Siberia" will run until April 19th.
