Expert Ophthalmologists Presented the Results of Their Research in the Eyesight Medicine Sphere
The Novosibirsk Expo Centre International Exhibition Complex hosted the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference ‘Fundamental Research in Ophthalmology’. The Conference had been timed to coincide with the 25th Anniversary of the Novosibirsk department of The Academician S.N. Fyodorov Inter-Branch Scientific and Technical Complex ‘Eye Microsurgery’.
The Conference featured leading specialists and experts in the ophthalmological sphere as well as academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The list of special guests included Sergey Bagayev, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Laser Physics Institute at the Siberian Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vyacheslav Shkurupiy, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Clinical and Experimental Medicine Scientific Centre at the Siberian Department of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Vladimir Konenkov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Research Institute of Clinical and Experimental Lymphology at the Siberian Department of the Russian academy of Medical Sciences, Yury Borodin, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chief Research Scientist, Head of the Interregional Scientific and Consultancy Centre of Endo-Ecological Rehabilitation at the Research Institute of Clinical and Experimental Lymphology of the Siberian Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Lyubomir Aftanas, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Presidium, Head of FSBI ‘Federal Department of Medical Science’ of the Federal Agency of Scientific Organizations, Mikhail Voyevoda, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of FSBI ‘Research Institute of Therapy and Prophylactic Medicine at the Siberian Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences’, Valentin Vlasov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine Institute at the Siberian Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The Conference consisted of two parts. The first part included the discussion of fundamental ophthalmological research, while the second part was devoted to ‘live’ surgery – participants of the event saw an online-webcast from the operating room at the Novosibirsk department of the The Academician S.N. Fyodorov Inter-Branch Scientific and Technical Complex ‘Eye Microsurgery’.
The Conference was organized with the Support from the Healthcare Ministry of the Novosibirsk Region and the Novosibirsk Regional Public Organization of Ophthalmologists.
Participants of the Conference have pointed out the high organization level of this event. According to the organizers, the next ‘Fyodorov Readings’ will be held in Novosibirsk.
Note: the Novosibirsk department of The Academician S.N. Fyodorov Inter-Branch Scientific and Technical Complex ‘Eye Microsurgery’ is one of the largest new-generation ophthalmological clinics in West Siberia. The clinic has been operating since 1989. It provides all kinds of diagnostic methods and multiple ways of treating eye diseases: conservative, equipment-aided, laser, surgical treatment, excimer-laser eyesight correction, fitting of spectacles, contact lenses.
