Development of transportation sphere as an investment into attractiveness of the region
The Transport Forum held this year will take place at the Novosibirsk Expocentre, just like the previous one. The forum plan includes speaking about all kinds of transport in Russia and Eurasia, opportunities for upgrading transport hubs, problems related to urban growth and new scientific discoveries.
The forum was started by the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Vasily Yurchenko. In his speech the Governor outlined principal directions of constructing the car road system of Novosibirsk.
The first primary task is creating the car road system in Novosibirsk consisting of world-class highways, such as the Novosibirsk northern detour road 75 km long, which was constructed 2 years ago.
‘Highways must include modern transport junctions, engineering structures, bridges, viaducts, and be accordingly connected to the road network of Novosibirsk,’ – Vasily Yurchenko said.
The Eastern detour road construction project is also planned. It will connect the Baikal Highway with the Chuya Road. This will be the longest detour road of Novosibirsk about 100 km long. It will provide additional road capacity as well as a freeway to Altay, the Altay Region, and the Russian-Mongolian border. The third project is the south-west detour road, which includes the Olovozavodskoy Bridge, will soon be commissioned.
The second primary task is developing the road network in Novosibirsk. As part of the development program aimed at improving the street and road networks of Russia’s largest cities a campaign for repairing the streets of Novosibirsk will be implemented.
Apart from that, the subject of upgrading the Tolmachevo Airport will also be touched upon. In 2010 the construction of the unique takeoff runway that can be used by all existing types of aircraft was completed. This runway will allow the airport to accommodate freight airplanes. Additionally, reconstruction of the international terminal was launched.
The railroad transport sphere is being supported by the program of increasing the south road capacity implemented due to the active use of the Kolyvan anthracite mine. Such an investment will enable the construction of a two-way road to Barnaul that will increase the flow of cargos and passengers as well as take heavy traffic away from Bolshevistskaya Street and the Berdsk Highway.
The construction of these roads will substantially contribute into the development of the regional economy.
