Construction of a hotel was started near the Novosibirsk Expocentre
On June 13th construction workers began to drive in foundation piles near one of the Novosibirsk Expocentre exhibition halls. According to the design project, the hotel will be linked to the main building of the exhibition complex via a passageway on the second floor to provide additional comfort for our guests and participants of exhibitions, congress and business events. Chairman of the Novosibirsk Expocentre Board of Directors Sergey Ryabov said that the estimated project cost equaled 570 million rubles.
‘Our city needs to catch up with the index of available hotel rooms per capita – we lag far behind Moscow and Saint Petersburg let alone European capitals and other towns. But we see that the amount of major events held in Novosibirsk is growing – this year a new ‘Technoprom’ project starts, the Forest Industry Forum and the wood processing industry exhibition ‘Technodrev’ will take place in September. We removed one of the limitations of business tourism by building a special complex for conducting international exhibitions – the Novosibirsk Expocentre. Now we need to develop hospitality industry, first of all, the hotel sector,’ – says Executive Director of the Novosibirsk Expocentre Veronica Shkarban.
